    Description

    - Nagura are prep/correcting stones used with full-size sharpening stones (whetstones) to assist in sharpening of knives, razors, chisels, planes, and other blades.
    - Nagura are used to: 1) create a sharpening slurry/paste on the working surface of whetsones, 2) clean glazed/"clogged" whetstone surfaces from trapped metal micro shavings and swarf, which inhibit sharpening, and 3) flatten the working surface which becomes convex (dished) with use.
    - By creating a cutting slurry, nagura aid in uniform, better controlled sharpening movements by eliminating suction between the blade and the stone and resulting skipping action which can lead to deformed, micro chipped bevels.
    - Nagura also help to break down grit particles of the host stone into smaller, finer size elements.
    -
    This nagura is a natural "Ocean Blue" Tsushima nagura stone; quarried from a now closed underwater mine near South Tsushima Island, Japan; limited stock.
    - Due to their natural origin, each stone has a unique appearance;
    layer is homogeneous, very dense.
    - 2.7" x 1.2" x 1.2" (70 x 30 x 30mm) +/- 5%; 6 oz (180 g); grit: ~#10K - 12K (fine);
    medium hard (3/5).
